And God Never Made Any Two Things Alike

This photo was not retouched in any way. These are the actual incredible colors.

I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes. ~e.e. cummings

Kansas City Zoo

I went to the Zoo Sunday hoping to take some great shots. I've been wanting to go for a very long time. It was a beautiful October fall day. In my anticipation of seeing exotic animals...after walking all around, my heart just sank. The cages were very small. I made eye contact with many of the animals and it just felt like despair coming from them. The whole experience was very disheartening. This picture sums it up.
Needless to say, in a city this size, it's a crime to keep animals locked up like that. I wanted to set them all free. I don't think i'll ever go back.

On the Wheel

These are my hands throwing a pot on the wheel. I just love pottery.

"We can judge the heart of a man by his treatment of animals."

Moose

My friend's new puppy. He just appeared one day and she immediately scooped him up. She is never without Moose. It's nice, to have a best friend like that.

Woman with Vase

Found her in downtown Kansas City, not sure who sculpted it or the history behind it. She looks sad.

"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Matthew 22:37-39

My 1st Gourd Carving

This is my 1st attempt. I used dyes and my wood-burner. I chose feathers.
I have a thing for feathers.

1st Tomato

My 1st Tomato of the summer. The plant was grown from seeds. I love watching God's miracles. My gourds are just beginning to vine out. I'm hoping for a good season. I'm already anxious to carve on them.

Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
